A new eagle has been added to the flock! Ms. Russel is a student teacher here at ERHS. This is her last semester as a student teacher before she becomes a certified English teacher at another school. Kate Russel didn’t always want to be an English teacher. She said she originally wanted to be a veterinarian until she was about 12 when she realized that being a vet would take a lot of work. English has always been her favorite subject in school and she eventually majored in English when she was in college. Her parents have always been supportive of her being a teacher. Her parents would have been supportive of her with any profession she may have chosen as long as she was able to have a stable career. If Ms. Russel chose to be a vet her parents would have supported that. Her mom was also a teacher which worked perfectly for her.Â
Outside of the classroom, she has a variety of things she likes to do that are not grading papers. She is involved in her church and she loves to read. She even said that she used to get in trouble for reading because she would be reading when she was supposed to be doing something else. Imagine that, getting in trouble for reading, usually your parents would tell you to read; not to stop reading. Some of her hobbies are cooking, embroidering, and she also likes to listen to music and podcasts. Ms. Russel is such a vibrant person and has such a fun personality. She makes a great addition to the Rock.
