The City of Angels, the Entertainment Capital of the World, La-La Land. Everyone’s dream city is good old Los Angeles, and for great reason too. The magic is here, and if you aren’t convinced, as an LA local myself (for all 14 years of my life), I believe I am well equipped to do the job. So, here is a comprehensive list of every perfect, completely serious reason to take a trip. Vamos!
1. Every Man for Himself
Even though I have never driven before, I can safely say that driving in LA is the easiest thing in the world. The reason we got the nickname, City of Angels, is because every driver here is an absolute angel. No one ever cuts you off, everyone always uses their turning signals, people are so polite, and there are definitely no angry drivers here whatsoever.
If you are trying to get somewhere in a rush, especially around 4pm, don’t worry! There is never traffic in LA. Either people use our terrific train system or people boat down the LA river. Even if there is some rare traffic, you can just walk!
Speaking of walking, you can walk anywhere you like in Los Angeles! Everything is accessible and the road is mostly full of sidewalks. If you would rather bike, there are bike lanes all over the streets. I see more bikes a day than I do cars! So next time you come to LA, just bring your bike and your shoes.
2. Cheapest Place
Los Angeles is famously known for being incredibly affordable. In fact, I’m shocked more people don’t talk about this. Everything here is cheap. Rent? Practically free. You can easily find a spacious apartment for under a thousand dollars a month, especially if you don’t mind living in a slightly haunted building with no parking, no AC, and a mysterious smell coming from the walls.
Food is also extremely budget-friendly. A simple meal will only cost you around $25, which is basically pocket change. And groceries? Don’t even worry about it. A single bag from the store may cost the same as a small car payment, but that’s just because the food is that high quality.
Gas prices are also super reasonable. It’s so cheap that sometimes I wonder if they’re giving it away for free and I just missed the memo. Overall, if you’re trying to save money, LA is absolutely the place to be.
3. LA’s Disneyland (because for some reason it’s not in Los Angeles)
The slogan, “the happiest place on Earth,” was originally made for our airport, though it is not known by anyone. Because truly it really is the best place on our planet. LAX is supposed to be a place you use to get to your vacation, though honestly it feels like a vacation just being there. The first reason is because it is the most stunning place ever. Most airports are gray, dull and boring—almost like the backrooms. Yet, somehow the architects managed to evade every one of those things. LAX is just so full of life!
You would think that LAX is crowded because it’s so big, but it's not! I don’t know where they are keeping the rest of the people, but there is barely anyone there. which is surprising because it’s like the one place where people can get from one place to another.
And finally, getting to the airport is unbelievably easy. The designers of LAX were clearly geniuses. If you didn’t know, there are basically multiple levels, loops, lanes, exits, and entrances that all look the same. This makes it super fun and stress-free to navigate, especially if you’re running late.
4. Four Seasons, Zero Variety
One of the best things about LA is how unpredictable the weather is. It’s always a fun surprise! Every day is either sunny, slightly sunnier, or aggressively sunny. This keeps life exciting, because you never know whether you’ll need sunglasses or… sunglasses.
We don’t really have seasons here, which is great because you never have to adjust. There’s no need for winter clothes, umbrellas, or emotional preparation. It’s always perfect beach weather, even if you’re nowhere near a beach.
Occasionally, it rains, and when it does, the entire city shuts down. This is a community-building experience that brings everyone together in confusion and panic. Truly magical.
In conclusion, come visit LA! Putting all sarcasm aside, Los Angeles is a really great place to live. If you can ignore the triple digit price tags and normal wildfire occurrences, LA is a magical place to be. You will never be bored with all the events always going on, and never be disappointed by the various food choices. I have loved it here for all of the 14 years of my life, and I’m sure you would too. So come to the City of Angels, you won’t regret it!
