BREAKING NEWS: ERHS varsity girls water polo wins CIF championship title

On Thursday, February 15, the Girls Varsity Water Polo team took home the Division 1 2024 CIF LA City Section Girls’ Water Polo Championship. Playing against Venice High School, the team fought a demanding back-and-forth game with an end score of 13-11. The 2024 varsity team broke Eagle Rock’s six-year drought of girls' water polo championships—a history rich with powerful teams and players. Over the past few years, the team has had trouble finding girls interested in playing the sport. This year, the team only had nine players in total, only two more than the required number needed to play. Despite this, the team achieved win after win, led by the team’s only senior and star player, Yolotzin Subdias, who ended the season with a staggering 200 points. Congratulations to Eagle Rock’s Girls Varsity Water Polo team, and we wish them the best of luck in state championships.
