Avni Koppula (she/her) is a staff writer in the eighth grade. Born in San Francisco, she has lived in Washington DC along with Los Angeles. Formerly, she had big dreams of becoming an “animal rescuer” and although now she isn’t entirely sure what that might have entailed, she has always liked animals; she has one dog, Chinni, and one guinea pig, Oreo. Previously, she attended Eagle Rock Elementary, and arrived at ERHS just last year.

She joined Journalism this year after hearing of it as a place she could “think about my creative writing and find a lot of people who were also interested in the same things I was.” Currently, she spends her time doing competitive dancing, learning Hindi, and playing the piano. Koppula looks up to authors like Mary Oliver and Maureen Johnson.

Along with improving her dancing and piano skills, she aspires to settle down somewhere in Oregon, and live a life that involves lots of traveling and seeing new places. In twenty years, she sees herself getting a job as an astrophysicist and/or a creative writer. Heavily interested in “how the world works,” she finds comfort in learning about things beyond this planet.
