About

Afreen Majumdar (he/him) is the head of the Art Department in journalism, and a passionate artist. As a young child, he lived in a small apartment in Santa Monica Beach right next to the ocean. He then moved to Eagle Rock early on in life, attending Rockdale Elementary, and joining the ERHS journalism team in ninth grade. From online D&D groups, he acquired the nicknames Bob and Ace, but is known simply as Afreen by his friends.

Having participated in journalism for two years as a current sophomore in high school, Afreen loves all forms of art: such as drawing, painting, and writing. Recently, he’s fallen in love with gouache painting, but his love for art goes back very far. He’s grateful to have amazing parents that encourage him to enjoy creativity and try expressive mediums, such as writing. Last year, he wrote a fanfiction that was 100,000 words long, which he had also gotten into at a young age from reading iconic book series. This has blossomed into a love for writing, drawing, and painting to his heart’s content.

As for the future, Afreen aspires to educate and inspire the youth; he hopes to teach English and art at a university while living in an apartment with his friend/future roommate. He also would like to own a pet carrier pigeon so he could be able to send secret messages to his friends. But as of now, he’s continuing to dive deeper into his passions, working on a myriad of paintings, drawings, and fanfictions that continue to inspire and grow the future of the ERHS Journalism.
