In a world where people become lazier by the minute, we humans have come up with a very special service that helps us get takeout while not even going out: Food delivery services. There are many forms of food delivery, and really, they have been around for a while. One of the most known forms being pizza delivery. However, more recently, some companies have emerged in the food delivery world. The three giants of the food delivery industry being Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats.
Now aside from delivering food, all these companies have one thing in common: they utilize strange, silly, and satirical advertisements to promote their service. Whether they are television commercials, radio jingles, or a big bulky billboard, these advertisements are everywhere.
Now we interact with these ads frequently, but have you ever really paid attention to one of them? If you have, you’ll know just how weird and funny they are, and frankly, how entertaining they are.
So without further ado, here are some of the kookiest food delivery commercials.
1. Grubhub: Delivery Dance
Starting off with an iconic commercial, we have the Delivery Dance from Grubhub. This commercial features an animated man on his phone using the Grubhub app to order food. After he receives his order, he starts dancing. Many other people with food take a bite of their food and join in. We’re talking body rolls, splits, and hip thrusts. 2. Postmates: When all you can __ is think about, Postmates.
I’m sure you’ve heard one of Postmates’ catchiest slogans: “When all you can pizza is think about, Postmates”. This simple phrase is plastered on billboards and commercials. It’s clever because it plays on the idea of having a certain food on your mind, so you jumble your words because it’s “all you can think about”. You can watch these commercials here and here.
3. UberEats: Uber Don’t Eats
Finally, a 2022 Super Bowl ad, we have a star-studded commercial for UberEats promoting their grocery delivery service. The premise of this hilarious clip is that if something is delivered with UberEats, one must be able to “eats” it. So the stars of this ad alternate in the spotlight, each of them eating some inedible grocery item. Things like hand soap, toilet paper, and even candles. This commercial is definitely my favorite. Now, there are many more wacky ads that I did not cover, however, we are surrounded by them, so you’ll probably stumble upon one soon. New ads are probably being developed by the minute.
