Teacher profile: AP Chem King, Mr. Khatchaturian

If you’ve taken AP chemistry, you know Mr. Khatchaturian (also known as Mr. K), who resides in room 302 in the Main Building. He’s been teaching here since 2016. Originally a science teacher, Mr. K wasn't too pleased to be assigned chem because of how complex the subject is. However, Mrs. Gallegos gave him helpful guidance in teaching the class. The subject also helped him understand how the world operates in terms of energy, which he finds interesting. 

If Mr. K could have any animal in the world, 

he would choose a domesticated Bobcat and              

name it Robert. 

Mr. K has been interested in science since boyhood, idolizing Nikola Tesla and other inventors. He graduated from the University of Southern California. 

At ERHS, He’s known for his iconic voice lines,

such as, “If you get this question right… you’re

going to get a 5 on the AP exam,” which inspires 

his students to strive harder. 

Mr. K’s favorite hobbies are swimming, playing piano, reading economics books, and if you’ve noticed the line of pots in the back of the class, cactigardening. He’s also been working on a time machine with Dr. Kobaissi. Not to document stock prices, surprisingly, but just to take a peek at the future and satisfy his curiosity– and because he appreciates Back to the Future.
