  1. Clueless (1995) | Occidental College

Only a five minute walk from school, the Occidental College campus served as the primary set for the fictional “Bronson Alcott High School” of Clueless. While the campus buildings’ architecture is attractive, it bears no architectural trademarks of Southern California, making it a plausible set for any US school.

  1. Freakier Friday (2025) | Starbucks on Colorado Dr, Walgreens, Pete’s Blue Chip

Though a more recent release, Freakier Friday is a continuation of the classic 2003 film Freaky Friday. This particular scene is humorously set in Starbucks, more particularly our now tragically retired Starbucks on Colorado Blvd. Though some interior components were changed the set remains very recognizable. Later in the film the characters take a trip to Walgreens, coincidentally the location neighboring this Starbucks.

  1. Face/Off (1997) | Captain Marvel (2019) | Eagle Rock Substation (SCE)

Situated behind the 134 freeway, this mysterious building seems to have caught the eye of many location scouts. The building’s ominous industrial look yet art deco refinement allows for versatile sets. In the 1997 film Face/Off, the SCE serves as the prison interior of “Erewhon Prison”, and decades later, serves as a Kree training room.

  1. Reservoir Dogs (1992) | Pat and Lorraine’s Diner

This classic Eagle Rock diner, located on Eagle Rock Boulevard, serves as the set for the pre-credit opening scene of Reservoir Dogs. This monumental scene sets the tone for the film, as the main characters gathered around a table in the bustling interior of this quintessential Eagle Rock establishment.

  1. I Love LA (2025) | Colombo's Italian Steakhouse & Jazz Club, Capri Club, Chifa

I Love LA is a newer comedy series on HBO Max. Like the name suggests, there are countless recognizable filming locations, a number in Eagle Rock, and even a line directly mentioning Eagle Rock. Colombo’s Italian Steakhouse and Jazz Club, situated on Colorado Boulevard has served as the set for numerous filming projects. The restaurant’s meticulous old fashioned atmosphere makes for a very picturesque scene. In contrast, Chifa is a newer local restaurant (opened in 2020) and serves Peruvian-Chinese food.

  1. Glee | Eagle Rock Plaza

Our cherished Eagle Rock Plaza has seen many different eras. Now, home to Seafood City, it’s a center for the Filipino community of Eagle Rock, but also houses many vacant storefronts. A relic from its time as a bustling shopping center exists in the show Glee, a 6-season musical comedy drama.
