Fashion Profile: Illustrations @The Rock

Updated: Dec 6, 2024

If Megan M. were to describe her style she would say, ¨Myself turned inside out, vada-vada.¨ [vada-vada: total freedom of expression without boundaries or guidelines] Very fitting. She favors baggy silhouettes and cargo shorts, such as in this outfit, accompanied by a Spiderman jersey and cat earrings.

When asked about opinions on fashion she states: ¨There's this overwhelming tendency in the fashion community, especially among people our age, to label clothes ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’” She says, ¨I hate that so much, I like all clothes.¨  It's a refreshing take, for Megan, fashion isn't about constraint, but rather freedom. She embraces conflicting styles, she wears and loves baggy clothes, but can also appreciate skinny jeans.

Makeup holds a special place in her heart, but it’s a love she’s yet to explore fully. She doesn’t wear her more eccentric makeup out because of social pressures, and the anxiety that comes with expressing oneself fully in public.

However, she states, “If I did my makeup, it would definitely be my favorite part of the outfit.” Until that day arrives, she’s all about the tops— specifically graphic tees.

She takes inspiration from The Shears twins, Maison Margiela, Courtney Love, Rick Owens, and Vivienne Westwood.

She enjoys the art and music of Cats Millionaire, Daniel Johnston, Christy Karacas, Alison Bechdel, and Dethklock.

Taking all influences into account, she has created a sense of self that is uniquely her. Everchanging and evolving, this is Megan M.
