Whether you’re looking for a snack or drink, or just a place to hang out with friends, there are different options around Eagle Rock for students to go after school. There is an abundance of coffee shops, cafes, and food spots that are a walkable distance from our school. Here are nine of the most popular spots:
1. Starbucks
By far one of the most popular places to go after school, Starbucks is only a fifteen minute walk away. It has a large outdoor space with plenty of seating, which can be used even if you are getting food from another place or even if you just want a place to sit. Starbucks is also a very popular chain that many people love, having both food and drink options. The food and drinks don’t take a long time to be ready, and there are many other spots that are close in walking distance to Starbucks.
2. The Rock
The Rock is a cafe that is extremely close, only a few blocks away from the school, making it very popular for people who don’t want to walk far. However, it has a very limited seating area, considering how small the cafe is. This also can make it loud and difficult to focus if you’re trying to do homework or study there.
3. Ding Tea
Close to Starbucks, Ding Tea is a boba place that recently launched a new food menu with multiple flavors of seasoned fries and other food options. The fries have been compared to the ones at Potato Corner, but the rest of the food items haven’t been launched into stores yet. They also have a large menu of boba and other drinks. There is a nice indoor and outdoor space in the shop, as well as a cabinet of board games that customers are free to play while they are there.
4. Chipotle
Another place very close to Starbucks is Chipotle, a food chain. It has a lot of seating inside, and is located near a lot of other spots like Yogurtland, Starbucks, and Boba Time. The food is very popular, and it is only a short distance from the school.
5. Walgreens
While not a place with seating, the Walgreens across from Starbucks is a great option to grab a quick snack, like chips or candy, or a drink like a soda. They also have Eagle Rock High School merch for sale, and other regular convenience store items. Walgreens is very close to the school and affordable, especially for students.
6. Boba Time
Boba Time is another boba place, similar to Ding Tea, but they don’t have savory food options. Instead they have pastries and a very wide selection of customizable drinks. It is also near Starbucks and all the other places in that area. However, Boba Time has limited seating in a very small indoor space, and none outdoors. This makes it not as ideal of a place to stay, but rather to buy something and then go somewhere else.
7. Panda Express
Located very close to the school, right next to Sprouts, is Panda Express. It is by far one of the closest to Eagle Rock High, and is close to other places like Fatburger and Menchies. Panda Express is also a chain with delicious food options, and has a soda fountain and a few dessert choices. The food is served similarly to Chipotle, with a bar where you can customize your order. Unfortunately, the inside can get crowded and uncomfortable very quickly.
8. Fatburger
Right next to Panda Express and Menchies, is Fatburger. They also have a lot of delicious food options, like fries, and drinks like milkshakes. There is a lot of available seating in Fatburger, with cushioned booths and tables, as well as outdoor seating nearby.
9. Foster’s Freeze
Foster’s Freeze is a stand that sells soft serve ice cream, and other fast food options like fries and burgers. Unfortunately, they have very limited seating and no indoor space, which makes it not a great place to hangout, but somewhere to get food before going to another spot. The prices are also not very affordable, but compared to other locations, it’s a good place to grab something quickly.
Eagle Rock has a lot of great food spots near the school where students can visit after school. Whether they are looking for a sweet treat, a drink, or a full meal, you will never be out of options when it comes to locations near ERHS.
