For the first time since the first annual Vogue World show was held in 2022, the event was showcased here, in California! Since the creation of this tradition, Vogue has worked to create a show that is both entertaining and enriching. The performance combines the world of fashion with pop culture in a thematic explosion of art that explores creative identity and geographical relevance. In the past, Vogue World has centered on themes connected to the hosting city. For example London’s performance art (2023) and New York’s street life (2022). The 2025 show hosted on October 26th in the heart of Hollywood combined two of Los Angeles’ richest industries of culture: cinema and fashion. Named Paramount lot Vogue World, the show consisted of film aesthetics and genres ranging from wild west to sci-fi. Many celebrities participated in performances including Nicole Kidman, Gracie Abrams, Angela Basset, and Doja Cat and designs were walked by a mix of celebrities as well as runway models.

The show also acted as a fundraiser as 100% of the proceeds were donated to a charity supporting film industry workers: Entertainment Community Fund. A special focus was put on aiding professional costumers impacted by the 2025 LA wildfires. Paramount Pictures also pledged a donation o the E.C.F.

The event was divided into acts each specifying a genre and showcasing a specific talent or designer. The first act was themed “Hollywood Glamour” and was crafted by designs from Prada, Miuccia Prada, and stylist Catherine Martin. The looks were inspired from the 1920s-60s era of Hollywood with looks similar to showgirls and flappers, bringing The Great Gatsby fashion to life.
The second act was called “The Renegades” and focused on the rebellious side of film with focus on creatives such as Tim Burton and Charlie Chaplin. Through designer Colleen Atwood, Sean McGirr, and McQueen, looks modeled by Anok Yai and Louisa Jacobson took the influence of costuming in Burton’s Edward Scissorhands.
The “Historical Heroines” act three imitated the artistry of period dramas with modern approach to corsetry and antique dresses. Lila Moss and Julia Garner wore looks by Milena Canonero crafted by Louis Vuitton and Nicholas Ghesquiere.

Act four, titled “Summer of Love” showcased looks by Arianne Phillips and Marc Jacobs. This was inspired by the sociopolitical expression in 1960’s and ‘70’s romance films such as West Side Story. Groovy-chic aesthetics were brought to life by Margot Robbie, Conan Gray, and others.

The fifth act of “Avant Garde” creatively directed by Sandy Powell, Allesandro Michele, and Valentino pressed evocative gender-bending art-films such as Orlando. To mirror these topics, fashion was contemporary and future-forward with Jeff Goldblum and Alex Consani featuring experimental looks.
Act six: “Afrofuturism” ranged in inspo from Malcom X to Black Panther. The power and boldness of striking color and indigenous influence designed by Ruth E. Carter, OLivier Rousteing, and Balmain were walked by Awar Odhiang and Agel Akol. This performance also hosted a special group of Balmain-clad dancers.
The seventh and final act was named “New World” and let the ideas of new frontiers and distant realities take the stage. Jacqueline West, Pieter Mulier, and Maison Alaïa’s designs took the runway with imagination centered looks based on films such as Dune modeled by Gigi Hadid and Loli Bahia.
After diving into this year’s Vogue World, I think it is the best one yet. Living in LA, the event defined pop culture in a way that spotlights our city’s history and present. Overall, Vogue World 2025 successfully defined film and high fashion as arts that not only coexist but also inspire each other with limitless creativity.
