About

Irene Maddox (she/her) is an intelligent and ambitious journalist at Eagle Rock. She began as a dedicated figure skater at three and a half years old, developing determination and discipline both on and off the ice. After an accident in her early childhood that left her with 7 staples in her head, Irene learned to “chill out” and approach the rest of her life with a greater sense of awareness. Irene also developed a strong love for reading and writing at an early age, finding inspiration in classic novels like The Catcher in the Rye, which is her favorite book today.

Now, Irene is a devoted student and immensely fond of school. Her favorite subject is English, and she still spends a lot of her time reading and writing. Irene plays a key role in many parts of journalism, working on Broken News, in broadcasting, and as a staff writer. Aside from her serious portfolio, Irene has a silly side as well. Her death row meal includes long carrots that could be bitten into weapons, fighting off those who deem her time as done, and a tall glass of water to quench her thirst after battle. This vibrant illustration of a scene gives us a glimpse into Irene’s bright future in the language arts.

As a junior with only one year left of high school, Irene’s future is already coming into focus. She hopes to major in English at her dream school UCLA. After college, with the wishes of working in the world of writing, Irene wants to settle down by the beach--with an underground bunker for protection, of course. Wherever Irene’s path takes her, whether it be a writer’s room or at the beach with her bunker, her story is only just beginning.
