About

If Rebekah Grace de Guzman (she/they) could describe herself in three words, it would be “Short & Sweet”, just like the album by Sabrina Carpenter, a singer she has been a fan of since 8th grade.

Rebekah describes her childhood home as lively. It always was a place for bible studies, parties, and more. Back then, Rebekah went through lots of phases. She had an interest in film, and she would often make videos with her toys. If there’s something Rebekah can’t forget from her younger days, it was tripping on her shoelace and scraping the bottom part of her eye. After that incident, she was heartbroken, saying she’d have an “ugly scar” forever. She stopped wearing shoelaces entirely.

Don’t worry, Rebekah currently doesn’t have a scar and is back to wearing shoelaces. Nowadays, Rebekah likes playing guitar, laying in bed, and dancing (she doesn’t trip- most of the time). This year, Rebekah is excited for AP Comp Sci since it is different from the field she wants to pursue, and it’s fun to try new things! The field Rebekah is interested in is film. Being a senior, Rebekah has certain colleges she is shooting for, such as Emerson College. A fun fact about her is that she actually created a documentary that was nominated for an Emmy, yet she sadly lost to Elmo. Despite losing, she says it was still a great experience for her.

When Rebekah looks towards the future, she sees herself owning an apartment in either New York or Boston with a nice retro-themed kitchen and a window that looks out to the city. Yet who knows what will happen? Whatever the outcome is, we're sure Rebekah will be successful, happy, and hopefully, she’s not tripping over her laces.

A review: & Juliet, and everything between the margins
All photos by Rebekah Grace de Guzman Earlier this year, one of our journalists, Charles-Henry Lubatti, published an article on how to access the arts as a high school student.  The last entry in the list piqued my interest: TeenTix LA, in partnership with countless venues across LA County, gives teenagers the opportunity to purchase tickets to shows for five dollars. Utilizing this service, I got the opportunity to watch the North American tour of a musical playing at the Ahmanson Theatre: &...
