Are you registered to vote for this upcoming election day? Election day is November 3rd, 2026. There are a number of things that are being voted upon this election, including California governor, Los Angeles mayor, State senate, and even a whopping fourteen propositions.

There are a number of deadlines you should look out for depending on how you’re voting. The last day to register to vote online for this election was October 19. Mailing ballots were distributed on October 5th and are due a week before November 3rd, so the last day for mailing is October 27. Mailed ballots are required to have a postmark by an employee from the United States Post Office. In-person voting starts at 7 AM and ends at 8 PM.

For the people of the general LA county area, there is a major election that has been in the works all year, and that's the mayoral race. There are two candidates running this race and the options are Nithya Raman and Karen Bass. Karen Bass was first elected in 2022, and decided to run again this year. On the other hand, Nithya Raman was a representative of district 4 before deciding to run against Karen Bass.

The entire state of California is also voting for their governor. Gavin Newsom can’t run for a third term, so we're getting a whole new set of candidates. This election, we have Xavier Becerra and Steve Hilton. Barrera is the democratic option and he is an attorney and  former secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Hilton is the Republican option and he’s a political commentator and former political advisor.

Lastly, there are the propositions. There are fourteen state-wide propositions that people are voting on. These elections involve topics including the taxing of billionaires, voter identification, housing construction, as well as other measures on taxes, housing, and healthcare. Make sure to do your research and vote with what best aligns with your views this Tuesday!
