Growing up in Pasadena, Erin Maddox (she/her) has always appreciated her older sister, especially the advice she gives. She has always encouraged her not to care what others think of her, a lesson she thinks everyone should remember. Erin finds comfort in her house, where she feels free not to try as hard. When she isn’t at home, she also loves visiting the beach and Huntington Gardens, specifically the Rose Garden. Although Erin only had a pet fish growing up, she sees herself having two dogs in the future–her favorite breed is a toy poodle.

As well as dogs, reading is something that Erin has always loved, with The Outsiders being one of her favorite books. Her love of reading translates to her excitement for her first year of being a staff writer in Journalism. As an eighth grader, she looks forward to seeing her writing published on the ERScream website. Another thing she looks forward to this year is her history class, as she enjoys learning about the past.

Although the year has just begun, Erin plans to join speech and debate to show support for her sister who is president of the club. She also looks forward to being a part of Model UN and the Threads club. One day, Erin hopes to become a dermatologist and even create her own skincare brand.
