About
Harris Bennett (he/him) was born in Burbank, but he moved to Eagle Rock eleven years ago, which his parents remember fondly because his younger sister was born around the time that they moved. One of his favorite foods is crab, but he also has a habit of eating full cartons of fruits and berries, which he brought up when Mr. Martin-Rowe offered us a tin of blackberries during our interview. Harris has been playing music since he was in third grade, a passion he continues to this day.
One of Harris's favorite things to do at school is participate in the marching band, where he plays the mellophone (an underrated instrument in his opinion), which is the marching band equivalent of a french horn. He also leads the french horn section of the marching band, and he has been in the band department for two years. During our interview, Harris was wearing a green jacket with "Eagle Rockbotics" embroidered on the front, which I asked him about. Eagle Rockbotics, as I discovered, is a robotics club that he says "is the reason he's here", and he says it's the best club on campus. He is also part of SRLA (Students Run Los Angeles), which he was convinced to join by one of his friends. Before he joined, he would have never imagined himself running any sort of marathon, but he managed to complete a 30k while in the club.
He is currently in his sophomore year at ERHS, and through the three years that he has been at this school, his current opinion with it is that it is a good school if you find your people and find things that you can be a part of. This is his first year being in journalism, and he thinks that he will probably go into the broadcast department, possibly into the Broken News committee of the Eagle's Scream.
